How the Pat Score works
Every review rates four things from 1 to 5. We blend them into one number, weighted by what matters most when you're in a hurry:
- 35% Cleanliness · would you set your phone down?
- 30% Safety · would you go in alone at night?
- 20% Stocked · paper, soap, a way to dry your hands
- 15% Privacy · locks that lock, gaps that don't gape
Restrooms change, so reviews older than a year count half. A badge appears only after 5 reviews, because one person's bad day isn't a verdict.
One review per person per restroom (you can edit yours). Listings come from OpenStreetMap, Refuge Restrooms and travelers like you. Hours and access can change, so trust your eyes on arrival.
Pat's safety tips
- Trust your gut. If a place feels off, leave. No score beats your instincts.
- Prefer busy and well lit. Staffed businesses, libraries, transit hubs and rest areas beat a lonely alley.
- Tell someone if you're traveling alone late at night, and keep your phone charged.
- Check the lock before you commit. Then check it again.
- Keep kids with you or wait right outside the door.
- Report problems. Unsafe, closed or never existed? Tap “Report” so the next person knows.
- Emergency? Call 911. Pat is a website, not a first responder.
